High temperatures often indicate that the bearing is in an abnormal state. High temperatures are also detrimental to the lubricant in the bearing. Sometimes the overheating of the bearing can be attributed to the lubricant of the bearing. If the bearing runs at a high temperature for a long time, the life of the bearing will be reduced. The reasons for the high temperature of the bearing are: insufficient or excessive lubrication, impurities in the lubricant, excessive load, etc. Bearing damage, insufficient clearance and high friction from oil seals, etc.
If the bearing is well lubricated and can ensure the correct blocking of debris and moisture, that is to say, the oil seal is intact and free of wear. Ideally, the bearing housing should be opened periodically to visually inspect the bearing and check the integrity of the oil seal. Check whether the lubricant is discolored or blackened.
